From the recording Hotel California
The composer of "Santa Baby", Philip Springer and I sat down to the piano one day. Phil asked me what I was working on. I had written 1/2 of this song. I was at a dead end. Phil said he was so inspired by my singing that he dove in and together we finished this song, "Smile For Me". I am so grateful to be a muse for Philip's musical genius and all the subsequent musical experiences I had were extraordinary. Philip is a real artist.
It was recorded in Swedish when I was performing in Sweden and was popular on the radio there.
Hope you enjoy it, wherever you are. :)
Lyrics
SMILE FOR ME
Written by Lisa Addeo and Phil Springer
When I saw you tonight
You looked at me, it just wasn’t right
Something deep inside told me what you couldn’t hide
Oh Baby, you’re gonna leave me
Don’t say you want us just to be friends
We both know how that always ends
One little thing before I never see you at my door
SMILE FOR ME, SMILE FOR ME
My heart’s a camera for eternity
And though our game’s been played, don’t let the picture fade
Hold still, while I’m cryin’ SMILE o baby SMILE FOR ME
CHORUS
I guess you couldn’t promise
That your love would never die
The castle of love we made
Is so empty and cold and inside
can’t believe our castle’s crumbing
Like the sand it’ll wash away
With the tide, a little more every day
But before the waves comes in, let me feel, how I’d feel, if you loved me once again
CHORUS
